We are thrilled to see that the City of Toronto is supporting the importance of proper nutrition and recognizes that there is a strong link between nutrition and learning for the children, through a grant for packed lunches for the 2013/2014 School Year. We wanted to take this opportunity to increase awareness of the new program offered by the City of Toronto: The Child Care Stabilization Grant is available through a onetime grant funding program from Toronto Children’s Services. Children’s Services will direct funding to recognize costs to licensed child care operators associated with the transition to full-day kindergarten (FDK).

 Licensed child care operators with a current service contract for fee subsidy with the City of Toronto are eligible to apply. In order to be considered for funding, operators must meet at least one of the criteria below:

1. Operates a mixed preschool/kindergarten room where less than a group size (8) is attending FDK;

2. Provides bagged lunches to children escorted to FDK who attend child care before and after school.

For full details and the application visit the City of Toronto Website:

Please note the application deadline is November 1st, 2013.

We hope this information will be of value to you this School Year as we all continue to transition through the implementation of Full Day Learning.
