UPDATE STATUS OF BILL 143, CHILD CARE MODERNIZATION ACT, 2014
With the dissolution of Provincial Parliament and election call for June 12th, Bill 143 has been dropped from the Order Paper.
“Dissolution terminates a Parliament and is followed by a general election. The date of the election is set in accordance with the provisions of the Canada Elections Act…. With dissolution, all business of the House is terminated.” [i]
As a reminder Bill 143 was an Act to enact the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2013, to repeal the Day Nurseries Act, to amend the Early Childhood Educators Act, 2007 and the Education Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts. Depending on the outcome of the election, this legislation may be proposed again once parliament reconvenes.
The election for Ontario's 41st Parliament will take place on Thursday, June 12. Get ready for another election and get out there and vote!
